PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate department processes. Implement needed changes based on identified needs.
  • Continually develop new menu items to keep customers coming back again and again.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.
  • Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet customer needs and minimizes payroll expense.
  • Order all food and supplies associated with the restaurant.  Maintain as little stock as possible without having a negative impact on customers.
  • Implement appropriate safety measures to ensure best practices are always being followed.
  • Responsible to meet or exceed restaurant productivity and quality goals.
  • Regularly communicate with other Supervisors and Managers.
  • High Standard of cleanliness, to exceed that of health dept.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of Management or Supervisory experience.

Knowledge of office processes, procedures, and technology (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel).

Other Competencies

1.     Commitment

1.1.  Responsible for managing the daily operation of the coffee shop to maximize sales and profitability, developing and implementing creative ideas and strategies to improve customer service and sales.

1.2.  Able to work with minimal supervision.

1.3.  Regular work week consist of approximately 50 hours, including weekends.

1.4.  90% of time will be spent working in front of guests, while 10% handling administrative/office tasks.

1.5.  Managers must be the hardest working member of their staff, setting expectations for all to follow.

1.6.  Be able to cover any shift as required, with little or no notice.

 

2.     Sales & Marketing

2.1.  Accountable for increasing sales and gross profit through implementation of effective merchandising and promotion.

2.2.  Manager is directly responsible for merchandising their store by determining how to effectively display merchandise in professional and attractive way.

2.3.  Help create and decide promotions to run.

2.4.  Determine menu items to carry or discontinue based on trends, sales reports, research, customer preferences.

2.5.  Recommend and initiate marketing and advertising strategies.

 

3.     Coffee Shop Appearance

3.1.  Maintain high standards of store image ensuring the store is clean, well-stocked, and inviting.

3.2.  Shelves are properly stocked

3.3.  Ensure proper storage and rotation of items to minimize out-of-codes and returns. 

3.4.  Restaurant cleaned and reorganized every day

3.5.  Ensure Manager and staff is always dressed according to company policy.

 

4.     Administration

4.1.  Complete necessary daily paperwork accurately and timely, and forwards to office within 2 business days.

4.2.  Handle all cash deposits professionally and promptly. 

4.3.  Manager constantly strive to innovate and improve the customer experience utilizing all tools available to them, including back-office computer system, management reports, vendor resources, and constant training and review of staff.

 

5.     Financial Performance

5.1.  Assist in the development of an annual budget

5.2.  Monitor, verify and reconcile expenses and revenues against budget

5.3.  Recommend and implement ideas for reducing costs

5.4.  Complete month-end physical inventory of assigned departments and forward to office within 3 business days.

5.5.  Ensure store operates with as minimum inventory as possible without negatively affecting level of customer service.

 

6.     Staffing and Supervisory

6.1.  Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and managing staff of sales-oriented associates who perform at the highest level possible, and when necessary, implement disciplinary action.

6.2.  Supervise and coach staff in the performance of their duties.  Provide feedback to staff regularly.

6.3.  Supervise staff in a fair, consistent and impartial manner.

6.4.  Ensure information flows to all store staff and advises management of significant events affecting store.

6.5.  Support, uphold and enforce all Company policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

6.6.  Ensure safety needs of staff, customers, and vendors are always a priority.  Always follows company safety guidelines.
